MY BLOG: COMMS TRAFFIC CONTROL
Where insights meet the occasional irreverence.
Communications and marketing endlessly fascinate me (and sometimes leave me shaking my head), so I’ve created this blog as my runway to share ideas, insights and the occasional hot take. Here, I explore campaigns, trends, tools and strategies—breaking them down with a bit of cheek and a lot of curiosity. As a self-proclaimed aviation geek, I’ve added a touch of turbulence with quirky theming and a unique rating system, wrapping up each post with one of four verdicts:
-
Still circling the airport—promising but not quite there yet. Think AI tools that sound amazing in theory but end up spending more time “learning” than actually helping.
-
A smooth touchdown—it’s effective, memorable and worth recommending. Like Dove’s Real Beauty campaign, which made us rethink beauty standards, or the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which got everyone from your neighbour to Oprah dumping freezing water over their heads (and raised millions doing it).
-
Failed approach—misses the mark entirely. Think Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi ad, where solving social justice was apparently as easy as cracking open a soda, or Gap’s logo redesign, which was so universally hated they scrapped it faster than you can say Helvetica.
-
Total loss—just the absolute worst. This rating is reserved for those rare, spectacular disasters where the fallout is so catastrophic, recovery isn’t even an option. Think Elon Musk giving a Nazi salute twice at Donald Trump’s inauguration and then doubling down by gaslighting critics and cracking tasteless Holocaust jokes on Twitter. It’s not just a misstep—it’s a full-blown nosedive into PR oblivion.
While aviation holds a special place in my heart, my curiosity knows no bounds. So, buckle up and prepare for takeoff—we’re exploring the highs and lows of comms and marketing from every altitude.
